Briar Rose Moffat (she/her) is a student at The Evergreen State College. She is from San Francisco where she was involved in a variety of positions in the education departments of the San Francisco and Oakland zoos. Her other passion, aside from conservation work, has always been games and game design. A lover of structure from a young age, Briar realized that she could use games in a way to bring people together and have everyone explore a world together, bond over those shared experiences of learning how to navigate it. And once she realized she could make her own, there was no turning back. Briar Rose has since come up to Olympia to study game design at The Evergreen State College. There, she has been involved in numerous projects both extra and intra-curricular, from writing and running ARGs, helping run a tabletop game jam, and even helping to start the Evergreen Games Collective. Through all of this, her passion for conservation and teaching about environmentalism is still going strong. She loves finding ways to intertwine her love of education and conservation into her game design projects in order to make the subjects feel that much more accessible and open. Even when she isn’t writing games about conservation, she still tries to use those values in order to write stories and create worlds that she hopes will inspire others to help make the world a better and brighter place. Her current project, The Weald, is a rules-light TTRPG about woodland critters exploring a forest made of dreams in order to fulfill their destinies.
